Sir Roger George Moore (14 October 1927 – 23 May 2017) was an English actor best known for playing British secret agent James Bond in seven feature films from 1973 to 1985, beginning with Live and Let Die. He was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991 and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 for services to charity. In 2007, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in television and film. In 2008, the French government appointed him a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

DEATH: Moore’s family announced his death in Switzerland, on 23 May 2017 from another battle with prostate cancer. He died in his home in Crans-Montana, in the presence of his family.
